lions & monkeys & it's a boy, oh my!!!

When a repeat client (and friend) requested jungle themed baby shower cookies for her sister's shower, I immediately found inspiration to make these cookies on Pinterest. Although I have to admit that the cookie artist behind the originals blew doors on my cookies. But hey, not bad for the first time. Right?

Now I don't always have the "right" cutter and the last thing I want to do is to buy more. So for these adorable elephants I used an oval for the head, two circles for the ears, and the bottom of a number 3 to create the elephant's trunk.

The monkey's head is a little out of proportion and thinking back I would have cut it out differently. But here I used the oval again and more circles.

The lion was easy.  I just used a flower cookie cutter.

I had major royal icing drying drama and had to "disguise" (more like hide) some of my mistakes. I re-piped the eyes on the elephants and monkeys (twice) and had to use fondant to cover the lion's face.

I was winging it and making it work!!!

A few monstera leaves for color….

And a few "it's a boy!" cookies never hurt either.

cookies for addyson's baptism

Little Addyson will be baptized tomorrow and all of her guests will receive a favor honoring her special day!!!

Each favor was adorned with a cross on top of a cross cookie.

Simple dots, lines, and curly squiggles make the most elegant designs, in my opinion.

All cookies were individually bagged, tied with ribbon, & labeled with hand written tags.

a LEGO cake for charlie's 5th birthday!!!

With a silicone mold, primary colored fondant, and a few cake decorating skills this LEGO cake came to life.

Although I have to admit that I cheated by using mini LEGO figurines. And so what? I could have NEVER re-created these heroes in sugar paste anyway…..

Robin

Thor

Batman

Spiderman & Superman

Wolverine

The Hulk & Captain America

Iron Man

And my fondant skills are still a little rusty…..Guess that means that I have to take on more cake orders!!!

You're 5!!!!!

HAPPY
BIRTHDAY
CHARLIE!!!

hot air balloon themed 1st birthday for sky!!!

I LOVE a cute theme for a kid's birthday party!!! And since Sky's parents are super talented designers, their graphic design for a hot air balloon themed party was full of understated cuteness.

Just check out this party invite…..

I obviously found inspiration from the invite and just ran with it…..

Sky's parents requested chocolate chip cookie bags to pass out as party favors for each one of their guests.

I was also lucky to have Sky's big sister Autumn helping me with the dessert table.

The idea of having a food truck cater your party is absolutely genius!!!
Korilla BBQ truck is da bomb!!!

 HAPPY
FIRST
BIRTHDAY
SKY!!!

I "heart" CP cookies

It's July, and it's hot and humid, so turning on my oven to bake is low on my summer list. But when one of my favorite clients makes a special request, I find it hard to say no. I've made a version of these cookies here, and I think any color combo and/or initials translates super in this easy design.

Apparently the campers at Camp Pinecliffe are obsessed with their camp colors of blue & brown…..

I hope they "love" these cookies that they'll receive from one special camper who's family will be visiting the camp over the weekend.
